Medeama Sporting Club Head Coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has vowed that his team will use their 1-0 loss to Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League Week 25 clash as a springboard for improvement. Speaking at the post-match press conference following the defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 6, Tanko acknowledged the disappointment but praised his players’ effort against a determined Hearts side.
“It’s not the result we wanted, but I’m proud of how the boys fought. Hearts took their chance with a brilliant goal, and we couldn’t find the net despite our efforts. We created opportunities, especially in the second half, but football is about taking your moments, and we didn’t today,” he said.
Tanko pinpointed Raphael Amponsah’s 22nd-minute screamer as the turning point, admitting that the early strike shifted the game’s momentum. He also highlighted the team’s response after halftime, noting the impact of substitutions—Kyei, Braye, and Fordjour—which injected energy but couldn’t overturn the deficit. “We pushed hard, and Kelvin [Nkrumah] was dangerous, but their goalkeeper and defense stood tall,” he added.
Looking ahead, Tanko emphasized resilience: “This is a setback, not the end. We’ve won two straight before this, and we’ll analyze where we fell short—especially in front of the goal, and come back stronger. The boys are hungry, and our fans deserve better. We’ll deliver.”
Medeama SC shifts focus to the next fixture against Dreams FC at the TnA Stadium next Sunday, with Tanko urging supporters to stay united. “Keep believing in us—we’re a family, and we’ll rise together,” he concluded.
