Medeama Sporting Club’s head coach, Nebojsa Kapor has showered praise on two key players, Michael Sarpong and Prince Owusu, for their exceptional performances and commitment to the team, particularly against Bibiani Gold Stars last Sunday.
Speaking during the pre-match engagement, Kapor highlighted the duo’s impact in recent matches, lauding their work ethic and leadership on the pitch, which was key to his side’s 2-0 victory over the Gold Stars in the Week 11 clash of the Ghana Premier League.
When asked what did the trick for the Mauve and Yellows last Sunday, the Bosnian gaffer lauded his entire squad for rising to the occasion but singled out the duo, Michael Sarpong, who was handed his debut start since joining Medeama SC as a free agent from the South Africa PSL and injury returnee, Prince Owusu, who came on for Nana Kofi Babil about 15 mins to end the first half.
“It depends on who is playing because every player is different and we had one more option Prince Owusu in the team. He is a very intelligent player providing us with a lot of quality balls and other players playing with him are aware he (Prince) will give them good, and quality passes. He is always going out from pressure in the final third and that is good for players who are supporting him to be able to find better positions, so as be able to attack from better positions.” Kapor on Prince Owusu.
Speaker about the Michael Sarpong, the coach had this to say, “It is not just one player. I am talking about what gave us opportunities in the last game (against Bibiani Gold Stars). We also built good options, Michael (Sarpong), who is a very strong player and secured balls in the final third. Always one or two opponent players paid attention to find his location and this created lots of spaces and problems for Gold Stars.”
The “We never give up” lads travel to the Wenchi Sports Stadium to battle it out with another GPL debutant, Young Apostles in the Week 12 clash.
