We secured a point away from the Nana Agyeman Badu 1 Park at Dormaa Ahenkro against Aduana FC in the Week 8 fixture of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League to maintain our third position on the league log in the game which needed a second day to complete due to heavy downpour and poor visibility at Dormaa on Sunday.
Medeama Sporting Club took a commanding lead 37 minutes into the first half through David Frimpong Boison after the left-footed winger initiated an attack on the right side of Medeama attack, with a one-touch quick pass with Diawisie Taylor and slotting home a nice low ball placement out of the reach of Aduana goalkeeper to win the first half. The first half saw Medeama SC dictating major parts of the actions in a highly composed manner from the start of the match.
The hosts, Aduana FC also had key moments in the half, exploiting the Mauve and Yellows midfield and defense but not goalkeeper, Appiah Kubi, whose awareness and agility were in place.
The second half started on a high note, with Aduana FC stating an intent of a comeback but Coach Kapor also had a different idea of killing the game by varying his approach, making two quick substitutions of Prosper Boakye and Kingsley Braye and replacing them with Michael Enu and Derrick Fordjour 15 minutes into the second half.
The substitutions by the technical team yielded instant results as Derrick Fordjour bagged the second for Medeama and his first of the season to take the game out of reach in the 71st minute of action.
At two goals up, with barely 20 minutes of regulatory time, when everyone at the club thought Medeama were taking our first three points away from Aduana’s backyard, the “Ogya” lads stroke with a quick double strike in the 73rd and 75th minutes to bring the game level.
The rains which had signaled through the deep clouds early in the second half started heavily, causing visibility issues to interrupt the match with three minutes to end the match. The match officials following consultations suspended proceedings to continue in the early hours of Monday.
The match was continued on Monday at 9:00 am with neither of the sides adding to their goals.
Medeama rests 3rd with 15 points and will host Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tarkwa na Aboso Stadium on Friday, November 1, 2024 @6pm.
