There was a sigh of relief at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium as Medeama Sporting Club managed its first win in October, through a 14th-minute goal from Bernardino Osah Tetteh.

The Mauve and Yellows had failed to score in their last three Ghana Premier League matches, drawing blank against Lions and Samartex at home and losing 2-0 away to Bechem United, creating uneasy moments for the technical team and playing body.

The match which was due to start at 3:00 PM, had to kick off late due to heavy downpour in Tarkwa. Medeama Sporting Club had the better of the first half with the only goal of the game to show. The second half however was keenly contested with both sides creating decent goal-scoring situations, with Medeama’s goalkeeper, Appiah Kubi pulling impressive goal-scoring saves, especially during the final part of the second half.

First half:

Medeama lined up in a typical 4-3-3 formation and took the game to Nations FC in a quest to fetch an early goal, which eventually came in the 14th minute through Bernardinho Tetteh, with the assist from Nana Kofi Babil. The left-footed attacker slotted home within the 18-yard box, what could be described as a goal from a collective team move to hand Medeama their first goal in four matches.

Nations FC, who were under intense pressure altered their game plan to soak the pressure from Medeama to avoid conceding a second in the first half, which worked perfectly for them.

Second half:

The Ashanti-based side, who before this game were unbeaten in the Ghana Premier League came in much stronger in the second half with quick substitution, in an attempt to equaliser but Coach Kapor and his charges wouldn’t pay heed to their threats.

Coach Kapor introduced Michael Enu and David Boison in the 67th minute in place of Prosper Owusu Boakye and Kingsley Braye respectively in an attempt to sharpen his attack to score what could be an insurance goal and to silence the troubling Nations.

Derrick Fordjour came on for Diawisie Taylor, with Richard Dwumah subbing fatigued Nana Kofi Babil in the 72nd and 81st respectively to control and manage the game, as Nations became more rampant and threatening in attack but Appiah Kubi stood tall to deny Nations FC an equaliser.

Defender Nurudeen Abdulai was voted the Man of The Match for his defensive and attacking prowess, putting brakes on Nations FC attackers on numerous occasions and also joining the Mauve And Yellows attacks when the need arose.

Coach Kapor was pleased with the performance of his boys and congratulated them on their resilience particularly in the second half when the visitors were piling a lot of pressure on his team.

Nana Kofi Babil, who provided the assist leading to the only goal of the match described the win as very important for them as players and assured that the players will keep fighting in every game they play for the maximum points at stake. The attacker was full of praise for his goalkeeper, Appiah Kubi.
