Highly-rated Ghanaian coach David Duncan returns to the Ghana Premier League for the first time in six years when he leads his Medeama side to battle Legon Cities in their opening 2022-23 Ghana Premier League in Accra on Sunday.
The Mauve and Yellows will count on the technical ingenuity of the experienced gaffer to steer them to their first Premier League crown this season.
Duncan, a former Ghana U-17 coach has been appointed on a one-year deal to steer the affairs of the club.
The former Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Great Olympics and AshantiGold coach has rich vein of experience in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Medeama finished second last season and will be hoping to improve on their performance and end the pretenders tag.
The Tarkwa-based side have brought in new players with other being shown the exit door.
Former AshantiGold trio Kwadwo Amoako, Kofi Mensah and Hans Kwoffie have joined the team as they chase their first ever Premier League title.
Defender Ishmael Hammond has also returned to Tarkwa after captaining relegated Elmina Sharks.
Medeama will be anxious for a decent result against Maxwell Konadu’s side who have also been trimming the rough edges ahead of the match.
Coach Maxwell Konadu has been holding out the side’s pre-season in Kumasi over the past few weeks, engaging in series of low profile friendly matches.
They return to the El-Wak stadium on Sunday to host Medeama – the same venue they hammered the Tarkwa-based side 3-1 last season.
