Medeama Sporting Club’s dynamic right back, Kamaradini Mamudu, has been named in Otto Addo’s 23-man Black Stars squad for the upcoming FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. The announcement made by the Ghana Football Association, marks another proud moment for the Mauve and Yellow as one of our own prepares to represent the nation on the international stage.
Mamudu’s inclusion comes as no surprise to those who have followed his stellar performances in the Ghana Premier League this season and seasons past, as one of the consistent and attacking minded fullbacks. The 22-year-old right fullback has been a cornerstone of Medeama’s backline, blending tenacity, pace, and tactical intelligence to thwart opposition attacks while contributing to the team’s build-up play, caught the eye of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, earning him a spot among Ghana’s elite.
A Journey of Hard Work and Dedication
Mamudu’s rise to the national team is a testament to his relentless work ethic and the nurturing environment at Medeama SC. Having joined the club with a reputation as a promising talent from Tamale City, he has blossomed into one of the league’s most reliable defenders under the guidance of our technical team. His debut for the Black Stars in November 2024 against Niger during the AFCON and the CHAN qualifiers hinted at his potential, and now, he’s set to take on an even bigger stage in the quest for a fifth World Cup appearance for Ghana.
“I’m incredibly honored to be called up to the Black Stars,” Mamudu said. “Representing my country is a privilege, and I owe so much to Medeama—my teammates, coaches, and the amazing fans who’ve supported me every step of the way. This is a key test, and I’m determined to make everyone proud.”
A Crucial Double-Header Awaits
The Black Stars will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21, followed by a trip to Morocco to take on Madagascar on March 25. Ghana, currently joint-top of Group I with nine points, are aiming to solidify their position in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Mamudu joins fellow home-based stars Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak and Razak Simpson of Nations FC in the squad, underscoring the growing impact of the Ghana Premier League on the national team.
For Medeama, Mamudu’s call-up is a badge of honor, reflecting the club’s commitment to developing talent capable of competing at the highest levels. His duel with Nations FC’s Simpson in our upcoming GPL clash will now carry extra intrigue, as the two Black Stars hopefuls vie for supremacy before linking up with the national team.
A Message to the Medeama Faithfuls
As Mamudu prepares to don the iconic Black Stars jersey, the club calls on our passionate supporters to rally behind him. “Kamaradini is a product of our family, and this moment belongs to all of us,” said the Vice CEO of the club, Mr Alfred Owusu. “Let’s cheer him and the Stars on in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, as we rewrite our scripts as a football nation after failing to qualify for AFCON 2025,—his success is Medeama’s success.”
