A goal in each half at the Tarkwa Na Aboso Stadium, courtesy Derrick Fordjour and Michael Enu were enough to hand Medeama Sporting Club the three maximum points in the Week 11 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

The Mauve and Yellows lined up in a 4-2-1-3 with a 3-4-3 variation as follows:

DEFENSE
Adams Jabal(GK) , Nurudeen Abdulai(CB), Emmanuel Cudjoe(CB), Ebenezer Nkrumah (RB), Fatawu Suleman (LB) (C)

MIDFIELD

Medeama Sporting Club started on a high note netting their first goal as early as the 3rd minute through nimble-footed Derrick Fordjour, who pounced on a rebound from Fatawu Sulemana’s free kick close to the Gold Stars’ 18 yard box on the left side of Medeama attack.

The early goal set the tone for the match as the visitors were on a mission of seeking the needed equalizer to maintain their unbeaten run, with Medeama Sporting Club, who have failed to win their last three matches, pushing for an insurance goal to avert their poor runs especially in front of their home supporters.

Medeama came close to finding the back of the net on two glorious occasions through Michael Sarpong, who was on his debut start but the goalkeeper for the Bibiani side, was equally good to the task to deny Medeama further goals in the first half.

Coach Kapor was forced into early substitution as Nana Kofi Babil had a knock that forced him out in the game in the 38th minute and was replaced by injury returned, Prince Owusu. Emmanuel Cudjoe was yellow carded.

The second half started with Gold Star doing most of the possession and Medeama doing a lot of pressure to keep the visitor at bay. Derrick Fordjour failed to make count a goal scoring opportunity with a wrong decision. Michael Sarpong and Derrick Fordjour gave ways for Kingsley Braye and Kelvin Nkrumah respectively in a chase for the second goal to kill the game.

The complexion of the game changed as the visitors could not force Medeama SC goalie, Jabal into action in the most part of the second half.

The introduction of Kelvin Nkrumah brought a lot of urgency in Medeama’s attack, with his pace, movement and skills and was rewarded with a penalty after he was brought down in the 18 yard box and the resultant kick, beautiful slotted home by Michael Enu, who was playing against his former side.

Bernardino Osah Tetteh came on for David Boison, was also stretched off due to injury. After 4 additional minutes of play, Medeama Sporting Club secure the maximum three points with two unanswered goals to end the unbeaten run of Gold Stars.

Medeama Sporting Club rest 5th of the GPL Table with 18 points, four points less than leader, Nations FC and will play as visitors to Young Apostles in Week 12 of the league.
