Medeama SC kicked off the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Accra Lions FC at the Tarkwa and Aboso (TNA) Stadium. The win secured an important three points as the club looks to build momentum for the campaign ahead.
First Half: The game began at 6 PM under an electric atmosphere, with both sides eager to make an early impact. Medeama SC controlled the pace for much of the first half, pressing Accra Lions and creating a few half-chances. Despite our dominance in possession, Accra Lions’ defense remained compact, and the first half ended without a breakthrough.
Second Half: Medeama SC continued to push forward after the break, and the turning point came in the 56th minute. A foul inside the penalty area resulted in a spot kick for Medeama. Osah Tetteh calmly stepped up and converted the penalty, putting the home side ahead. Accra Lions responded by increasing their attacking pressure, but Medeama’s defense stood firm to preserve the lead.
In the end, our team successfully held on to secure a vital opening day win.
