Medeama Sporting Club was handed an opening match defeat in the 2024 GHALCA Competition by Bechem United by 1-0 at the TnA Stadium on Sunday.

The defeat to Bechem courtesy of Nketia Christianson’s 30th-minute strike marked the clubs first defeat at their new venue, having beaten Asante Kotoko in the Grand opening of the stadium last Friday.

The Mauve and Yellows gaffer, Kapor paraded an entirely different squad from those that featured last Friday against Kotoko as the team is still in their pre-season formalities ahead of the 2024/2025 season which kicks off next month. The players showed positive intents and energy to overturn the scores but to no avail particularly in the second department of the game by squandering numerous chances that fell their way.

The team faces Nations FC on Wednesday and would be expected to improve their performance and get the needed victory over the Kumasi-based club.
