Ivorian international, Jean Vital Origi won the hearts of spectators at the Akoon Community Park yesterday with a purple patch performance as coach Umar Rabi masterminded the fall of high flying Obuasi AshantiGold in the week 28 fixture of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday by 2-0.
Coach Abdul Umar Rabi maintained his 4-4-2 formation used against Aduana Stars away at Dormaa but made two changes to his starting 11, replacing Ali Ouatarra and Agyei Boakye with Baba Musah and Jean Vital respectively.
John Mossie manned the post once again, with Yaro Ibrahim, Fatawu Sulemana, ever present Vincent Atinga and Baba Musah in defense.
The midfield components were Prosper Boakye Owusu, Jean Vital Origi, Rashid Nortey and Skipper Kwesi Donsu linking up with an attacking duo of Ato Mensah Justice and Ansu Kofi Patrick.
Medeama SC started on a high note by scoring an early goal in the 5th minute through Ansu Kofi Patrick, who follow up on a rebound of Fatawu Sulemana’s free kick which hit the cross bar.
The Yellow and Mauves pressed on for a second but could utilise their chances, as AshGold warmed themselves into the game for a possible equaliser but their lethal goal poacher, Yaw Annor was pocketed by the Tarkwa side.
Assist provider, Fatawu Sulemana was forced out of the game in the after 30 minutes of play due to ankle injury and was replaced by regular customer, Benjamin Abaidoo.
Medeama SC controlled the game especially the midfield with Jean Vital doing most of the damages to the Aboakese side.
After four minutes of additional time in the first half, the scoring line could not change as Medeama SC held on to their 1-0 lead.
The second half resumed with both testing and knocking at the doors of each other could all not result into goals; with Medeama being the most wasteful side.
Coach Umar Rabi attended to his cards bring on Kwadwo Asamoah Godfred, Theophilus Anoba and Agyei Boakye for Ato Mensah Justice, Rashid Nortey and Kwesi Donsu respectively and switching from his 4-4-2 formation into a 4-3-3 system.

Super performer Jean Vital was fouled and the edge on AshGold’s 18 yard box to win Medeama a free kick which was beautiful converted into goal by enterprising young midfielder, Prosper Boakye Owusu for his personal first Medeama SC goal and Medeama’s second on the day on the 78th minute.
Medeama SC wastefulness continued but had the game under control to prevent the visitors from getting a consolation.
