Many football pundits, lovers, and Medeama SC supporters alike have bemoaned the team’s goal-scoring abilities, especially this season.
The Mauve and Yellow side from Tarkwa has only managed 18 goals out of 26 premier league matches, averaging less than one goal per match all season, and has only managed to score more than one goal in a game only on two occasions (2-0 against Karela United in the first round and 2:1 against Real Tamale United in the second round), with all happening at our backyard, Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa.
Addressing the press after Medeama SC’s 1-0 win over WAFA last Sunday, the skillful winger for Coach Umar Rabi’s said revealed that, the players are much considered and livid by the scarcity of goals notwithstanding the number of chances they create in matches.
According to the experienced game-changer, the team does a lot of goal-scoring practices during their training sessions but finds it difficult to fathom why they are unable to replicate the same in competitive matches; yet he believes the three points matter most.
Medeama SC has managed 12 wins in the GPL so far, drawing 6 and losing 8 out of the 26 matches, scoring 18 goals and conceding 17 in the process.
The team is currently 3rd on the league log, having accumulated 42 points (3 points behind 2nd placed Bechem United), and will be traveling to Dormaa to face Aduana Stars, which Theophilus Anoba believes Medeama can return home with at least a point.
