Two goals from Darlington Gyanfosu and Ansu Kofi Patrick in the first half was enough to win injury stricken Medeama SC with the three maximum points at the Akoon Community Park over the giants from the north, RTU in week 24 of the GPL.

Coach Umar Rabi maintained his 3-5-2 system but with entirely new players holding forth in the starting lineup for the Mauve and Yellow side from Tarkwa.

Goalkeeper John Mossie started ahead of regular customer for the second round, Kamil Anaba in post with a new back three of Umar Mohammed, Ali Ouatarra and Kingsley Adjei in the absence of the usual starters, Vincent Atinga, Baba Musah and Kofi Asmah who were all ruled out due to injuries sustained from their last game against Hearts of Oak.

Medeama SC started on a high note with early incursions which was finally rewarded in the 8th minute through mercurial winger, Darlington Gyanfosu, for his first ever Medeama SC goal and the first goal of the afternoon.

Real Tamale United came in strongly taking the game to Medeama and eventually won themselves a penalty, when the ball struck the hand of Medeama’s defender, Kingsley Adjei in the 18yard box and was beautiful converted by Sadat Mohammed for the visitors on the 18th minute mark.

The “We never give up” boys rose to the occasion and their slogan by restoring their lead through Ansu Kofi Patrick in the 27th minute, giving Medeama the upper hand and control over the game but non of the attempts could result in extra goals.

Referee Eric Owusu Prempeh called for the end of the first half with 2:1 scoreline to the advantage of the home side.

Medeama SC coach made changes to his squad on the 70th minute, bringing on Kwadwo Asamoah for injured Prosper Owusu and Abaidoo for Fatawu Sulemana to try and find more goals and to have the game under control but RTU remained stronger and solid.

With RTU given Medeama a run for their money and making things difficult, Coach Umar threw in two extra cards, introducing skipper Joseph Tetteh Zutah and Jean Vital and taking out striker Ato Mensah and midfielder Rashid Nortey in the 86th minute.

The 4th referee, Otoo Emmanuel displayed his board for 4 minutes to be added on for stoppages and eventually brought to an end with the home side adding the three points to their 36 points accrued before the game to 39points.

Medeama SC who are 5th with same points are 3rd and 4th ranked Aduana Stars and Great Olympics travels travels to the nation’s capital to face Legon cities in their week 25 fixture.
