Right-back Kamaradini Mamudu delivered a performance to remember at the TnA Stadium on Sunday, scoring twice as Medeama Sporting Club secured a commanding 3–1 victory over Karela United to tighten our grip at the top of the Ghana Premier League.
The Mauve and Yellows, on a clear revenge mission against the only side to have beaten tainted our undefeated run this season, started with intent and were rewarded inside the opening 20 minutes. In the 18th minute, Kamaradini announced his presence in the opposition box, rising highest to head home Fuzy Taylor’s corner kick and hand the champions a deserved lead.
Moments later, Medeama doubled the advantage through Derrick Fordjour. A surging run down the left by Fatawu Sulemana ended with a teasing cross into the area. Kingsley Braye’s initial effort was thwarted, but Fordjour reacted quickest to smash home from close range and made it 2–0.
Karela United responded almost immediately, pulling one back from a corner in the 22nd minute after Medeama failed to deal with the aerial ball, sending the teams into the break with the score at 2–1 and the contest finely poised.
After the restart, Coach Ibrahim Tanko made tactical changes to reassert control, introducing Richard Appiah and Abdul Salam to inject fresh energy. The move paid off, and once again it was Kamaradini who rose to the occasion.
In the 67th minute, the attacking right-back struck again, this time finishing off a sweeping move with a well-timed run into the box to connect with Fatawu Sulemana’s cross. His second goal of the afternoon restored Medeama’s two-goal cushion and extinguished any hopes of a late Karela comeback.
Further substitutions allowed the Mauve and Yellows to expertly manage the closing stages, seeing out the match in front of a jubilant home crowd to complete a dominant display.
The victory lifts Medeama SC to 43 points, extending our lead at the summit of the table to eight points over closest challengers Asante Kotoko and Aduana FC, who both sit on 35 points.
With confidence soaring and momentum firmly on the Mauve and Yellows side, the 2022/23 champions now turn our attention to an away trip to the Ashanti Region to face Nations FC next weekend.
Kamaradini Mamudu’s brace not only sealed the points but underlined Medeama’s strength, unity, and growing belief in the chase for a second Ghana Premier League crown.
