One goal from each half at the Dawu Theatre of Dreams Park was enough to humble Medeama SC in our last match of the season but not enough to relegate the Mauve and Yellows from our second position occupied ahead of our match against Dreams FC being managed by our former coach, Ignatius.
Our young gaffer, Umar Abdul Rabi kept faith in his squad that started in our 2-1 victory over Accra Lions at the Tarkwa Akoon Community Park in a quest to pipe away at least a point from Dawu to cement a historic best-ever position since Medeama joined the Ghana Premier League without a second eye on Bechem United’s game against Berekum Chelsea at Bechem.
Medeama started on a strong note knocking at the doors of the home side but Dreams turned the heat on Medeama and got a breakthrough in the 30th minute through Issah Ibrahim, who doubled the lead for Dreams and himself in the 74th minute to put the game out of the reach of the “We Never Give Up” side until the game was brought to an end.
The loss meant, Medeama need Bechem United to slip in their fixture at home to Berekum Chelsea before our second position could be accomplished; and so it was since Berekum Chelsea was unable to cancel Bechem’s lead to end the game at 1-1.
Medeama on a whole finished 2nd in the 2021/2022 GPL season with 56 points, two points ahead of Bechem United; with Vincent Atinga as the club’s top scorer with 7 goals to his credit.
On behave of the President, Board of Directors, Management, and supporting staff, we say well done to the technical team and playing body in anticipation for a super 2022/2023 season. To all our supporters, sympathizers, and the media who carried our team all through the season, we say ayekoo!!
