Medeama Sporting Club turn attention to MTN FA Cup action this weekend as the Mauve and Yellows host FC Samartex 1996 in the Round of 16 at the TnA Stadium on Saturday, February 7, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00pm.
The two-time FA Cup champions head into the fixture determined to return to winning ways following last Friday’s narrow 2–1 away defeat to Nations FC, a result that ended Medeama’s impressive 19-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side, however, have been flawless in this season’s FA Cup campaign so far, easing past Sekondi Rospak SC before dispatching Bibiani Gold Stars to secure a place in the Round of 16.
Standing between Medeama and a quarter-final berth now is a familiar domestic rival in FC Samartex 1996, setting the stage for what promises to be a fiercely contested Western derby clash in Tarkwa.
With momentum in league and cup competitions still firmly in Medeama's favour despite last weekend’s setback, the Mauve and Yellows will look to assert our home dominance and continue their pursuit of another FA Cup crown.
Supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers to rally behind the team as Medeama aim to bounce back strongly and keep the club's trophy ambitions alive.
