Coach Ibrahim Tanko has taken positives from Medeama Sporting Club’s 2–1 defeat to Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, insisting the performance showed encouraging signs despite the result.
The Mauve and Yellows made a bright start and were rewarded inside the opening ten minutes when Kingsley Braye rose highest to head home Fuzy Taylor’s corner, giving Medeama an early advantage and setting the tone for an energetic opening spell.
Nations FC, however, responded in similar fashion ten minutes later, with their captain Simpson also scoring from a set piece to restore parity. The hosts then edged ahead just before the break when Simpson converted from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute to complete his brace.
In the second half, Medeama pushed hard in search of an equaliser, creating several quality chances and sustaining pressure in the final third. Despite the attacking intent and improved momentum, the Mauve and Yellows were unable to find the breakthrough as Nations FC held on to secure the win.
Speaking after the match, Coach Tanko highlighted the positives, particularly the team’s creativity and chance creation, while acknowledging the disappointment of seeing Medeama’s impressive unbeaten run come to an end.
The defeat brings an end to Medeama’s long streak without loss (17 in GPL, 19 in both the league and FA CUP), but the performance offered enough encouragement as the league leaders turn their focus to bouncing back in the next fixture, confident that the foundations remain strong.
