Medeama Sporting Club goalkeeper Felix Kyei has played down talk of personal motivation despite an outstanding season between the posts, insisting his focus remains firmly on one thing — delivering clean sheets for the club.
Speaking during Medeama’s mandatory pre-match media engagement ahead of the Week 20 Ghana Premier League clash against Karela United, Kyei was typically calm and direct when asked about his impressive return of nine clean sheets this season.
“There’s no extra motivation because this is the only job I have. I am just here to keep as many clean sheets as possible for the club,” the shot-stopper stated.
Beyond personal milestones, Kyei made it clear that Sunday’s encounter carries added significance for the entire squad. Karela United remain the only team to have beaten Medeama this season, inflicting a 1–0 defeat on Matchday 3, and the goalkeeper believes the team is ready to respond on home soil.
“We are confident and ready. We want to win and correct what happened earlier in the season,” he assured.
Medeama heads into the fixture in formidable form. The Mauve and Yellows currently sit top of the GPL table with 40 points, holding a commanding lead and riding a wave of consistency that has defined our campaign. Since that defeat to Karela in Week 3, Medeama have gone 18 matches unbeaten in all competitions, underlining our growth, resilience and title credentials.
The Tarkwa-based side also enter Sunday’s showdown seeking to extend their 2026 winning streak to four consecutive victories across all competitions, having already recorded crucial league and FA Cup wins in the new year.
With confidence high, defensive solidity assured by Kyei’s presence, and revenge firmly on the agenda, all signs point to an intense afternoon at the TnA Stadium as Medeama aim to protect their fortress, maintain their momentum, and tighten their grip on the summit of the Ghana Premier League.
