Medeama Sporting Club Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko has praised his players’ tactical maturity and mental resilience following the club’s crucial 1–0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak at the TnA Stadium on Sunday, a result that crowned the Mauve and Yellows’ AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine sponsorship launch.

Speaking after the final whistle, Coach Tanko acknowledged the significance of the three points, describing the encounter as a highly tactical contest that demanded unwavering focus from his players beyond regulation time.

“This was not an easy game. It was very tactical, and we had to prepare the minds of the players to stay focused beyond 90 minutes, right until the final whistle,” Tanko stated.

The Medeama gaffer commended his squad for executing the game plan with discipline against a seasoned Hearts of Oak side throughout the match.

The breakthrough came in the 75th minute, when Salim Adams calmly finished from close range to hand Medeama a deserved lead — a moment Tanko described as a reward for patience and belief.

“Salim’s goal was very good and well taken, but for me it doesn’t matter where the goal comes from,” he explained.

“Whether it is a defender, a midfielder, or an attacker, the most important thing is the goal and the three points.”

Tanko’s remarks underscored Medeama’s collective philosophy, one built on shared responsibility and team cohesion rather than individual acclaim.

The victory not only extend Medeama’s unbeaten run to 14 consecutive league game (15 in all competitions), but also ensured the club finished the first round of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season at the top of the table, and starting 2026 with a win.

With momentum firmly on our side, Coach Tanko expressed satisfaction with his team’s progress, insisting that focus and consistency will remain the driving force as the league resumes for the second round.
