AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has reaffirmed its deep-rooted commitment to community development and social empowerment after officially unveiling a USD200,000 headline sponsorship agreement with Medeama Sporting Club for the 2025/2026 season.
The landmark partnership, which was formally announced on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa, brings together two institutions united by a shared vision of growth, empowerment, and societal advancement within their host communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, Mr Daniel Boadi, explained the philosophy behind the company’s decision to partner Medeama SC, describing it as a natural extension of the mine’s core purpose.
“Simple, this is our commitment to development and to empower the people in our host communities,” Mr Boadi said.
“Our single purpose is mining to empower people and to advance societies. What you see here today is part of that purpose — as simple as that.”
He further emphasised that AngloGold Ashanti’s involvement with Medeama SC aligns seamlessly with the company’s long-standing approach to community engagement.
“We are always committed to our host communities when it comes to their development and empowerment, and this partnership is a reflection of that commitment,” he added.
The one-year deal, which is renewable, sees AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine become headline sponsors of Medeama Sporting Club, further strengthening the club’s commercial base and reinforcing its drive for sustained excellence on and off the pitch.
For Medeama SC, the partnership represents more than financial backing; it is a strategic alliance rooted in community pride, institutional growth, and the collective advancement of Tarkwa and its surrounding areas.
As the Mauve and Yellows continue their pursuit of success at the summit of the Ghana Premier League, the club does so backed by a partner whose philosophy is clear — mining not just for profit, but to empower people and advance societies.
