Medeama Sporting Club marked a landmark day in their history in emphatic fashion, crowning their USD 200,000 headline sponsorship agreement with AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak at the TnA Stadium.
On a day of celebration, purpose and ambition, the Mauve and Yellows delivered when it mattered most, sealing all three points through a moment of quality in the 75th minute. Substitute Richard Appiah sparked the decisive move with a surging run down the right flank before delivering a perfectly weighted cut-back into the box. Salim Adams, showing composure and maturity beyond his years, took his time to pick his spot and calmly guided the ball beyond the outstretched reach of Hearts goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi, sending the home crowd into raptures.
The victory unfolded in the presence of top management of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, led by Managing Director, Mr Daniel Boadi, Senior Sustainability Manager, Mr Stephen Adjei, and a distinguished delegation of dignitaries, underscoring the growing bond between the mining giant and the Tarkwa-based club.
Medeama’s hierarchy was also fully represented, with President and Owner, Mr Moses Armah, Board Chairman, Dr Tony Aubyn, his Vice Chairman and other Board Members, alongside Management led by Chief Executive Officer, Mr James Essilfie, all in attendance to witness a day that symbolized progress both on and off the pitch.
Beyond the celebration, the result carried significant sporting importance. The narrow but deserved victory ensured Medeama finished the first round of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season at the summit of the table with 34 points, a testament to the team’s consistency, discipline and collective belief under Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko
As the final whistle sounded, the scenes around the TnA Stadium reflected more than just a football result. It was a statement of intent—of a club aligning strong corporate partnership with competitive excellence, and a clear signal that Medeama Sporting Club are determined to push even further in the second round of the season.
For the Mauve and Yellows, this was not just a win—it was the perfect coronation of a new chapter. 💜💛
