Medeama SC goalkeeper Felix Kyei has opened up on the key motivation behind his decision to commit his long-term future to the club, despite attracting strong interest from several Ghana Premier League sides.

During the post-match media engagement on Saturday, the highly rated shot-stopper revealed that the sense of belonging, warmth, and respect he enjoys at Medeama made extending his stay an easy choice.

“At Medeama, I feel at home. Everyone here makes me feel welcomed—management, technical team, my teammates, and the supporters. That feeling alone is enough motivation to stay and continue fighting for this badge,” he said.

Kyei signed a two-year contract extension last Friday, binding him to the Mauve and Yellow family until 2029, reaffirming the club’s belief in his quality and leadership as first-choice goalkeeper.

Since joining from Karela United in January 2023, Kyei has grown into one of the most influential players in the squad—playing a pivotal role in Medeama’s historic 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title and subsequently leading the club into its maiden CAF Champions League group stage. His performances have earned him national recognition, including invitations to the Black Galaxies (Local Black Stars).

The goalkeeper made it clear that the trust placed in him by the club was a major factor in turning down other offers.

“Many clubs showed interest, but loyalty and the environment you work in matter. Here, I feel valued, and I believe in the project we are building,” he added.

Medeama SC continues to emphasize stability and squad continuity as key pillars of its long-term strategy, and Kyei’s extension represents a major boost to the club’s plans.

The entire Mauve and Yellow family looks forward to many more years with Felix Kyei guarding the posts with dedication, passion, and excellence.
