Medeama SC head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has announced a strong squad for the club’s Matchday 10 encounter against Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Mauve and Yellows enter the fixture determined to end their three-game winless streak on the road, having not secured an away victory since their opening-day triumph over Young Apostles. Since then, Medeama have suffered defeat to Karela United and picked back-to-back draws against Hohoe United and Aduana FC.
Derrick Fordjour returns to the starting lineup, and is expected to cement his place in subsequent matches with a great performance against Wonders
Also making a significant comeback is Yusif Mubarik, who returns to the matchday squad for the first time in over a month. The center-back suffered a hamstring injury in the home fixture against Dreams FC on Matchday 5, which forced him off before halftime. He now takes a spot on the bench and will be available for selection should the need arise.
Medeama also welcome Bernardinho Osahene Tetteh into the squad, with the winger named among the substitutes after working his way back into Coach Tanko's plans.
Key Absentees: Prince, Kelvin on National Assignment; Emmanuel Owusu Injured
Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah—miss today’s trip due to their national team engagement with the Black Stars on international assignment against Japan and Korea Republic.
In addition, creative midfielder, Emmanuel Owusu is unavailable after picking up an injury in last weekend’s stalemate against Aduana FC. Manuel Mantey also misses out on the matchday squad.
Starting Lineup
Felix Kyei (GK/ C);
Rich Sackey, Desmond Baffoe, Fuzzy Taylor, Godknows Dzapaksu, Kamaradini Mamudu, Richard Appiah, Derrick Fordjour, Abdul Salam, Salim Adams, Jacob Amu Mensah.
Substitutes:
Adams Jabal, Osei Yaw, Kingsley Braye, Osah Bernardinho Tetteh, Yussif Mubarik, Nana Kofi Babil, Henry Nyarko, Fuseini Baba, Paul Yeboah
Determined to Stay Close to the Summit
Medeama enter the game placed second on the league table with 18 points, just behind Aduana FC. A victory in Accra could send the defending champions back to the top, depending on other results.
Eleven Wonders, meanwhile, sit bottom of the table with just 2 points from nine matches, but Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko has cautioned against complacency as his side seeks stability in form away from home.
