Medeama SC produced a disciplined and resilient display to earn a vital 0-0 draw against Aduana FC in a fiercely contested Ghana Premier League week 9 encounter at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa on Saturday afternoon.
In a match that lived up to its billing as a top-of-the-table clash, both sides showed tactical organization, defensive solidity, and moments of attacking brilliance, but ultimately failed to find the breakthrough in an engaging 90 minutes of football.
The game kicked off at 3:30 p.m., with Medeama immediately showing intent to control possession and dictate the tempo. The Mauve and Yellows were well-drilled defensively, with captain Felix Kyei commanding his backline effectively while Desmond Bafoe and Rich Sackey stood firm against Aduana’s attacking threats.
Midfielders Salim Adams and Manuel Mantey combined well to retain control in the middle of the park, allowing Kelvin Nkrumah and Abdul Salam to exploit spaces on the flanks. Despite Medeama’s growing dominance, the first half ended goalless, with few clear-cut chances at either end.
The second half saw Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s men pushing forward in search of the opener, introducing Fuzzy Taylor and Kingsley Braye for Emmanuel Owusu and Abdul Salam in the 66th minute to inject fresh energy into the attack. Later, Godknows Dzakpasu and Richard Appiah were brought on for Prince Owusu and Manuel Mantey, as Medeama intensified the pressure.
The best opportunity of the afternoon came deep into stoppage time when substitute Godknows Dzakpasu struck a well-taken free kick that cannoned off the upright — agonizingly close to a late winner. Aduana immediately launched a counterattack, earning a corner kick that was calmly dealt with by Medeama’s defense before the referee signaled for full time.
The stalemate sees Medeama SC extend their unbeaten run and maintain strong pressure on Aduana FC at the summit of the table. Both sides shared the spoils in what was a hard-fought encounter filled with tactical discipline and mutual respect.
Medeama will now turn their attention to their next league assignment against Eleven Wonders as Coach Tanko and his charges aim to return to winning ways and continue their pursuit of top spot in the Ghana Premier League standings.
